Hi Reader,

Happy Easter, if that's something you celebrate. We had a big family dinner yesterday, hence there was no livestream this weekend.

But I have posted three new videos in the last four days, all about the upcoming Spring Update for Luminar Neo.

In this first one, I go over what's new and updated and provide some pricing information.

NOTE: Okay, here’s the deal about pricing!

Luminar Neo update pricing IS complicated. Even I was confused and got it wrong in the video above.

Let me break it down and try to find some answers for you.

Before I start, I just want to say that the changes in this Luminar Neo update are really good! I’m really loving the new Bokeh AI!

Now on to pricing - this is what I know for sure:

  • You get this update for free if:
    • You have a Monthly/annual Subscription (BUT you cannot get a subscription now if you don’t already have one - so don’t cancel!!!)
    • Or you bought the Fall 2025 Upgrade
  • Which parts are free?
    • The tool updates are apparently free for everyone
    • Ecosystem and mobile updates are not included unless you bought the fall 2025 update
  • Other permutations - I no clue! Sorry.

Basically, the tool updates are free. The only reason you’d have to pay is if you want the Ecosystem and don’t already have it.

I recommend you wait until April 9th, when it ships. If you qualify for the update for free, Luminar will notify you when you open it.

So wait it out - if you don’t get a notification, you MAY have to pay for the upgrade. But don’t quote me on it!

So I made a second short (4 minutes) video to clarify pricing on the update.

And finally, an overview of how to use the updated Bokeh AI tool, which now works on ANY image, not just portraits! Cool right?!

Check out how I used it on the image below. It now uses the same 3D depth mapping technology as the Light Depth tool. It's brilliant!!
