DPM Newsletter - October 2026

Hi Reader,

Fun and random fact about Darlene

I'm a little bit clumsy (or maybe a lot!). On our recent photography tour to Vietnam, I fell and managed to tear a ligament in my foot. Four weeks later, I'm still in recovery and rehab mode.

The fact that this took place in a remote area, at the bottom of a big hill, was fun. NOT! Our guide had one of the local villagers carry me up the equivalent of about three flights of stairs. I got X-rays at a small local clinic where they told me it was not broken (luckily).

Here's me sitting in the mud holding my foot, while Daniel is shaking his head and everyone else is trying to figure out how to get me up the hill.

Below you see me waiting to see the doctor and get an X-ray.

The man in the green vest above was my savior. He piggybacked me up the hill. The alternative was that they were going to hang a blanket from an 8-foot-long bamboo pole and carry me up in that. I'm very grateful to that man, and yes, he got a BIG tip!

Please don't worry about me, though; I'm on the mend and will be heading to Thailand in 2 weeks with my nephew for an adventure. Through it all, I've managed to still have a sense of humor about it - even when Ginger saw my butt (and more) twice, LOL.

Here's a quick selfie I took in Seoul, South Korea, crutch and all!

SIDE NOTE: Watch for a new photography tour to South Korea soon! That was a scouting trip, and Daniel and I are working on an itinerary for fall 2027 to capture the stunning autumn colors.

Stay tuned!

Watch This!

Coming up this Sunday is my next livestream.

You’ll see the newly released Luminar for Web in action. Watch as I easily edit on my phone, then switch to a web browser to continue the edits, and finally over to Luminar Desktop and all the edits sync up!

You’ll see how fast it responds to slider adjustments, sky replacements, and event GenErase and Restoration.

This video is for you if:

  • You’re curious about this new app
  • You have an old or slow computer that can’t run Luminar Desktop
  • You’re brand new to any photo editing and want to see how easy it is to use before you buy it.

Join me and bring any and all your questions to the live chat! See you there.

In the News

The biggest news this week is that Luminar Web was released and is available now for everyone. If you want to know more about it, watch my introduction video (the one above) and then tune in for my livestream this Sunday.

The pricing on Luminar Web is as follows (prices shown are in USD):

  1. Option #1: No cost, but you only get the very basic tools. It's not clear which ones are included.
  2. Option #2: $69 for Luminar Web and Luminar Mobile. So if you're a Smartphone photographer, this might be all you need.
  3. Option #3: For $159, you get the full meal deal! That gives you Luminar Web, Mobile, and Desktop, updates for a year, Generative AI tools for 365 days, and Spaces.

As always, our code will give you 10% off any of those prices. CLICK HERE to buy or upgrade Luminar now.

ATTENTION LUMINAR STUDENTS AND FANS

I wanted to bring our Luminar Course to your attention, whether you already own it or have considered signing up.

Please note that the course will be getting some updates and new lessons as soon as possible. Because of my travel schedule and injury, there's been a bit of a delay, but I will be adding a few new lessons and updating others to reflect the new interface as well as the new tools.

More new things are coming later this month (watch for another video on update 1.29.0 on October 20th), but I cannot tell you what that is just yet. Just know that it's good!

If you are considering the Luminar Course

Perhaps you have checked out the sample lessons we provide as a preview, and you noticed that Luminar looks a little different in the videos?

You're right, it is different. Most of the course lessons were created in 2025 (they were all brand new and up to date at that time), but because Luminar is changing so quickly, I haven't been able to keep up.

The course WILL be getting updated, and if you decide to buy it now, you'll get the new lessons and updates to it automatically.

But you can still get started now because even though the interface looks a little different, most of the tools still work the same. So the content of the video lessons is still accurate and up to date in that regard.

To help you decide, we'll give you a little motivation. How's this?

The course also includes access to the Luminar student area on our private DPM community, and all the perks that come with that.

It's a place to ask questions, get feedback, and get direct access to me!

If you put your trust in us to get the course updated, we're willing to invest in you as well. So this is just for DPM newsletter readers!

Cheers,
